Alloy Boats
At Alloy I designed and fabricated a drive-by-wire system that turned a recreational boat into a platform for autonomous driving. It put throttle and steering under software control. I also built the water-resistant compute enclosures and the sensor mounts. I specified the battery and the high-power brushless motors to hit a 6-hour run time on the water.
The autonomous technology demonstrator I built drove itself using radar for navigation and path planning. It also used a camera to watch for people in the water (that part was still experimental).
